How Can We Support Your Family?

Families formed through adoption, foster or kinship care face unique challenges – it’s not always easy to tell if an issue that a child or family is experiencing may or may not be related. Accessing adoption competent support and preservation services can assist you and your family with a wide range of issues. In many cases, the specialized, family saving support C.A.S.E. provides to your family is fully covered by a grant.

Free Support for Maryland adoption, kinship, + guardianship families

C.A.S.E. is thrilled to continue its partnership with the Maryland Department of Human Services to fund FREE, adoption-competent therapy services, psychiatric care, case management, and educational advocacy for adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families, both pre- and post-placement! Services are available for all Maryland families formed by adoption, kinship care, or guardianship.

Services available:

  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Support groups
  • Webinars and resources

Eligibility:  

  • Families living in Maryland with a child under the age of 18 who joined their family through:
    • Adoption (foster care, private adoption, or international adoption)
    • Guardianship
    • Kinship
  • Families can access services pre-placement, immediately after placement, or decades after the adoption or guardianship occurred 
  • Services are available for children, youth, parents, caregivers, siblings, and extended family members 
Northern Post Adoption Consortium Service Map

Together with our partners enCircle and Children’s Home Society of Virginia, C.A.S.E. leads the Northern Post-Adoption Consortium (NPAC) to offer FREE post-adoption services and supports to adoptive and kinship families in the Northern Region of Virginia. These services include parent coaching, support groups for teens, tweens, and caregivers, fun family events, and respite events – all of which are FREE for families thanks to our partnership with the Virginia Department of Social Services!

Eligibility: Families are eligible for NPAC services if they reside in the Northern region of Virginia and are one of the following:

  • A family with a finalized adoption (or a signed APA*) of a youth between the ages of 0 to 18 years; families with young adults under 21 may be eligible
  • KinGAP families
  • State-funded subsidy families

Montgomery County Maryland Map

Montgomery County Post Adoption Program is funded through the Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services and is one of C.A.S.E.’s longest standing programs providing education and therapy to families before and after adoption of children from foster care.

If you are a Montgomery County resident, you may qualify for free therapy through this grant program. You can ask for more information about qualifications during your initial appointment setup.

C.A.S.E.’s highly skilled therapists have completed our 72-hour Training for Adoption Competency™ (TAC), the only evidence-based accredited program in the country. This expertise equips our therapists with special knowledge and experience in treating children and families facing challenges involving identity, trauma, loss and grief, attachment, and executive functioning.

Wendy’s Wonderful Kids is a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption designed to bring children waiting to be adopted from foster care one step closer to safe, loving and permanent homes.

C.A.S.E. Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiters partner with the jurisdictions of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Frederick County, Harford County, and Montgomery County. Our recruiters work with smaller caseloads, ensuring that they can provide these children with the attention, resources and support they need and find the adoptive families they deserve.
