Help create change in school systems
Many families turn to their school for support when their child is failing, and early intervention is critical. Sadly, school professionals often have limited training in trauma-informed approaches and even less experience with the unique needs of children and youth in adoptive, foster, or kinship families.
Abraham’s adoptive parents would try to explain that some of his “disruptive” behaviors were due to attachment issues instead of willful misbehavior but the school staff just didn’t seem to understand. They would isolate him from other children during circle time because he was “acting out,” yet refused to give him the space he needed in the lunchroom as he worried about having enough to eat. His adoptive parents were often just barely hanging on and counting the days until the next therapy session at C.A.S.E.
C.A.S.E.’s new curriculum for school-based mental health professionals training is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and family-focused. It’s extremely powerful and effective. We want to bring this special C.A.S.E. training to schools all over the country — but we can’t do it without you!
Your gift today will prevent children from struggling needlessly when underlying issues are missed or ignored at school. Please help C.A.S.E. bring this program to 1,500 professionals.
