Kathy Cook Ravenscroft, LMSW currently serves as the Chair of the C.A.S.E. Board of Directors and the Chair of the Governance Committee.  She started on the Board in 2014 and previously worked on the Annual Gala as co-chair of the Silent Auction.

She became interested in working in the adoption foster care community after a brief time as a foster parent. She served for eight years as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (now Voices for Children) in Montgomery County, MD.  This work led her to pursue a Masters in Social Work as a third career. She is currently a part-time therapist with House Calls LLC and is a case manager for several pro bono clients.

As a CASA, Kathy served young children and youth, partnering with mental health agencies, teachers, counselors, social workers, parents, foster parents and court officials to support the needs and best interests of vulnerable children. During her MSW intern assignments, she worked with youth in group homes at Hearts and Homes and in Out-of-School time programs with the Collaboration Council of Montgomery County. From 1999-2002, she served on the Board of the Mental Health Association of Montgomery County.

Prior to her work in the social services sector, Kathy worked in the corporate sector leading projects and programs in organizational and leadership development at Pepco Holdings and Intelsat. She led a team in the  development and delivery of a nationally recognized leadership program for front-line supervisors.  Both at PHI and Intelsat, she led efforts to implement new performance management initiatives and other culture change efforts. She is certified in the use of the Birkman and MBTI. She has served on the boards of the local DMV chapters of American Society for Training and Development and the Chesapeake Bay Organizational Development Network.

Kathy graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work with a Masters of Social work and completed a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from Marymount University.  Her undergraduate degree is from The American University in Political Science and Economics.  She and her husband live in Olney, MD.
