Calling all adoptive families! NPAC* is thrilled to offer an amazing opportunity, led by two experienced post-adoption support coaches, for parents to meet other adoptive parents and learn some brain-based approaches to preventing and combating blocked care. Parents who are looking for strategies to reset their nervous system, find the calm in their lives, and convene with fellow adoptive parents are welcome to join!

Registration is limited and will close March 14, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

We will follow the Foundations for Overcoming and Preventing Blocked Care, a non-faith-based group curriculum for parents that is based upon Reclaim Compassion by Melissa Corkum and Lisa C. Qualls.

The NPAC team will mail each participating family a book prior to the start of the group.

This group will meet from 7-8PM EST beginning Monday, 03/31/25.

We request that each participating family commit to joining 6 of 8 meetings.

Meeting dates: 03/31/25, 04/07/25, 04/14/25, 04/21/25, 04/28/25, 5/5/25, 5/12/25, 5/19/25

About Facilitators

 

Bonnie Westfall, NPAC Post-Adoption Support Coach
Bonnie Westfall has been on the NPAC team as a Post Adoption Support Coach for the past four years. Bonnie has previously worked at an international adoption agency working with families post adoption. She has also worked as a therapeutic foster care case manager prior to coming to C.A.S.E. Bonnie enjoys working directly with families, connecting them with the services their family needs, and advocating on their behalf. Working in the field of foster care and adoption has led Bonnie to be a foster parent and she currently has three children in her home. Bonnie has a Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling with an emphasis on crisis response and trauma from Liberty University.

Lauren Knox-Simpkins, NPAC Post-Adoption Support Coach
Lauren Knox-Simpkins graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Shenandoah University and went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Psychology from Northcentral University. Lauren has worked in the mental health field for the past 18 years and more specifically with foster and adoptive families for the past 15 years. She has a blended family in which she is the mother to two children biologically and one not biological. Lauren feels she is very compassionate and help to normalize what families are feeling so they know they are not alone. Lauren helps families to feel empowered to advocate for their own needs as well as their children’s in good times and in tough times. In her spare time, Lauren loves to be outside whether that is riding a bike, gardening or anything water related with her family.
