The study and survey results offer hope and opportunity, showing that when families access TAC-trained clinicians, their self-reported outcomes improve. The survey, on the other hand, tells us that far too many people still can’t access adoption-competent mental health care. While TAC is the gold standard, it is not currently available to clinicians in every state. But NTI training is free and web-based; it is available to clinicians and professionals in every state who want to access it – either through our C.A.S.E. Institute learning management system or through other organizations.
Did you know that the NTI curriculum was based on competencies that were originally identified and vetted for the TAC curriculum? Of course, NTI is much more foundational. We think of it as the “undergraduate” level of adoption competency, while TAC is the “graduate” level of adoption competency.
NTI training provides your staff with the foundation they need to work with foster, adoptive, and kinship families. The foundation they need to understand is the nuances and complexities inherent in the experience of being separated from birth family and disconnected from one’s identity. The foundation they need to support youth as they ask difficult questions, mourn their losses, and understand their stories. The foundation they need to help families rebuild attachments and nurture well-being for life-long stability.
Our team of implementation specialists is available to work with child welfare, mental health, and school leadership to implement and promote the training. Our team can also partner with organizations to provide coaching for staff who complete the training and to help them transfer their learning into practice. Let us help you build that foundation and get started today!
If you’re a professional who’s been longing for an opening in your schedule to take this free, online training, now is the time! Access is available on the C.A.S.E. Institute Learning Management System (LMS). If you are not currently a host site but would like to have access to these files or need implementation advice and support, please contact us!
