Nina Marino, MSW, LCSW is the Director of Strategic Program Development, Virginia and started with C.A.S.E. in the fall of 2017. Nina oversees the development and implementation of Post-Adoption Case Management services in Virginia as well as other development opportunities. She comes to C.A.S.E. with extensive experience in both mental health and child welfare settings with expertise in the areas of trauma-informed care, program development and best practices in foster care and adoption. Previously, she has consulted nationally with the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Child Welfare Strategy Group. She has worked to improve permanency outcomes for older youth in foster care and has supported implementation of a trauma-informed, skill-building curriculum for foster and adoptive parents that aims to improve permanency outcomes for youth in foster care. Nina held a position as the statewide director of a Virginia-based treatment foster care and adoption program. Under her leadership, she created a trauma-informed program and implemented improved post-adoption services, providing adoption-competent mental health services and training for community-based providers. She also worked to install effective recruitment and retention strategies for foster families. Nina has served as a therapist, providing trauma-focused counseling services to children and adolescents. She has presented extensively on trauma, trauma-informed care and adoption-competent practices. Nina received her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 and is a licensed clinical social worker.
