Our daughter was placed into our home when she was 5 months old. Finally, when she was 2 years old, we got her adoption date. We were over the moon excited to give this little girl our last name, and then Covid hit and shut the world down. There were so many unknowns for our adoption date-the biggest question unknown was if they would move forward with the adoption. Thankfully the judge decided to proceed! The court was held at 1:30 pm and we were not allowed to be present at the courthouse. At 2:00 pm, I still had not heard if it was finalized or not, so I called the courthouse. The clerk in the local courthouse confirmed that the judge had finalized our adoption and on 04/15/2020, we gave our daughter our last name. We celebrated that evening by getting all dressed up and taking our first pictures together as a family of 3. Three months after the adoption (when covid restrictions began to raise), we held an adoption party where our friends and family gathered to celebrate with us! Our adoption didn’t go as planned but we got to adopt our daughter and she is the light of our lives!
