Studies regarding post-adoption contact between adoptive and birth families reflect a growing increase in all types of adoptions. Our clinical practice at C.A.S.E. reflects this trend. Understanding the many benefits of continued contact for their children, parents have shared their desire to overcome their fears and concerns about engaging in open adoption. However, these unique, complex relationships have many potential challenges, and certainly, continued contact is not always possible or appropriate.
