Karyetta L. Walker, LPC, graduated from the TAC program in Catawaba County, North Carolina in 2014.  She is a child therapist working with children (2 1/2 -17 years old) who have survived severe maltreatment (sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, neglect, traumatic grief and grief and loss issues). Karyetta utilizes evidence- based treatment models to minimize trauma symptoms, while increasing the parents’ and caregivers’ ability to have trauma-informed parenting. The areas in which she practices includes Alamance and Caswell Counties in North Carolina as well as surrounding areas. General areas of her clinical specialization include TFCBT (trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy) and PCIT (parent-child interaction therapy) treatment models. She works extensively with children currently in foster homes and living with pre and post adoptive families. Her specializations include child traumatic stress, anxiety and behavior management. She works closely with the foster care and adoption systems of social services to deal with bonding and attachment issues presented by minor clients and their families. Specific areas of Karyetta’s adoption clinical specialization include working to make the appropriate assessments, therapeutic treatments and referals for children and their families. She seeks to improve the level of functioning of the child at home, at school and in the community.
