In conjunction with our adoption advocacy partner, The Jockey Being Family Foundation, C.A.S.E offers 600 FREE registrations to each Strengthening Your Family (SYF) Webinar with 10 webinars offered each year. These webinars focus on a variety of relevant topics for adoptive, foster and kinship parents as well as the professionals who serve them.
Who are we, where did we come from, and what is our purpose in life?
These are questions that everyone asks themselves, and these questions are — like adoption — a life-long journey. At each stage of our development throughout our lifetime, these questions are revisited time and time again.
The trauma of loss and disconnection from our families impacts one’s sense of self, and this is especially true in the life of an adopted child. For a person who is adopted, it adds yet another layer or filter to their experience that can, for many, create challenges and leave the adoptee to struggle further with unresolved thoughts and feelings that impact their life’s decisions. They create a life narrative that can enhance, or can lead to further trauma if not assisted.
If families created by adoption can love, support, and empower their children through this process of self-discovery, they can provide the adoptee with more internal and external stability, and a deeper sense of self-love as they move through life.
In this webinar, we will explore a greater understanding of this process; recognize the need for reconnection through search and reunion as a valuable step towards developing a positive self-identity; recognize this process as part of their personal journey through Mastery and Control; and discover tools that will help us assist families and children as they learn to love and accept the totality of who they are.
