Hi. I’m Michaela and I was adopted. I first started coming to C.A.S.E., The Center for Adoption Support and Education, at age 11. C.A.S.E. has been there for me since I first began having questions about my adoption story. It was a place where I could go and talk to other kids who shared my struggles with identity and with wanting to know where I came from. Since then, C.A.S.E. has supplied me with the necessary tools to cope with and accept being adopted.
C.A.S.E. is a place where anyone involved with adoption can feel safe to talk about how they feel whether it be confused or angry…or simply be a place for people to meet others where they can feel comfortable to be themselves. No one has to feel ashamed to ask the tough questions because we all can understand one another. C.A.S.E. allows everyone, regardless of age, gender or race, to feel included in a special kind of family.
Adoption doesn’t end at placement; it’s a lifelong journey.
