Feeling known, acknowledged and accepted is important to all of us. But figuring out how to share our reality in a way that will be heard can be particularly difficult for those of us in adoptive families. We will be looking at what gets in the way of our self expression and then experimenting with ways to communicate thoughts and feelings about adoption to family members and to our communities as a whole.
The day will include group activities as well as individual projects, including experimenting with fine art forms and playing with movement as a form of expression. This year’s program will conclude with a creative family project that parents and children will work on together and take home as a reminder of their commitment to speaking and listening to each other.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow for easy movement.
