FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA FAMILIES: “Lunch Bunch” Parent Support Group

The “Lunch Bunch” Parent Support Group is for adoptive parents, who live in the state of Virginia, and are looking to build connections and support, gain tools, and hear stories from parents and share experiences.

Virtual groups will meet via Zoom on the 4th Monday of the month from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.

The “Lunch Bunch” is a drop-in Support Group and registration is not required for participation. However, please note the following group rules:

  1. Confidentiality—Members of this group will keep what is shared in this group confidential.  This includes not sharing the identity of the other members present.  This group will not be recorded, and recording is prohibited.
  2. Limitations to the confidentiality rule:  The leaders of this group must report any situations in which a group member expresses an intent to harm themselves or others or in which someone discloses suspected child/elder abuse or neglect.
  3. Respect:  Members of this group will use words and actions to convey mutual respect.

Facilitators

Sahra White

Sahra is a mother to 8 children: 3 biological, 3 adopted and currently fostering 2 boys. Sahra has been a foster mom for 5 years and have fostered 9 children to include respite services. Sahra is employed full time, but she spends much of her free time advocating for both foster and adopted youth. Being a support in the foster care system has been a true honor and Sahra’s biggest passion.

 

 

Lisa Grass

Lisa has the great privilege of serving foster and adoptive families for approximately 15 years. Lisa received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Cheney Washington. Lisa feels that she excels at helping families and children identify their unique strengths and help them build on what they already possess. In her spare time, Lisa’s family likes to hike, bike, and spend time at the beach when they can.
