Presented by Michelle Collins, LCMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist and a self-proclaimed “auntie” to Black transracial adoptees. As a member of the adoptive constellation and with years of experience supporting transracial families, Michelle will provide an open and honest discussion about why love is not the only ingredient for success for the transracial adoptee and their family. In addition to her work as an adoption-competent therapist, her lived experiences in predominantly white settings add additional insight into the experience of adoptees that she will use as discussion points to increase the adoptive parent’s empathy and understanding.
