Adoptive families have the best outcomes when they have a great connection with their therapist and issues are addressed through a sensitive adoption-focused lens.
Meet C.A.S.E. therapist Emily Collins Belknap, LCSW, who sees families in our Annandale, Virginia office. Emily is experienced in working with children and adolescents who have issues related to trauma, substance use, school avoidance, depression, anxiety, and self-harm.
Q: “Emily, What inspired you to become a trained adoption-competent therapist?”
A: “Years ago, I interned with an advocacy non-profit group that focused on foster care and adoption policies. I became aware of the immense need for post-adoption services and now feel so fortunate that I’m trained in adoption competency and can help fill that need.”
