Since its first pilot project in 2009, the TAC has grown rapidly, expanding into new communities across the United States each year. Currently, there are seventeen TAC sites and more are on the way. Certified TAC trainers in fifteen states across the country have already trained 979 clinicians to provide adoption competent mental health services.
The TAC is making a significant impact on the quality of mental health services for members of the adoption kinship network. TAC participants score significantly higher on adoption competency post-tests than control groups of comparably qualified professionals not enrolled in the training. TAC-trained clinicians report improved practice in collecting information about adoption at the time of intake and during the initial phase of assessment.
