VA FAMILIES: KinGAP Caregiver Support Group

Are you a kinship caregiver with guardianship in the Northern region of Virginia?

Come join us for a KinGAP Support Group to connect with other KinGAP caregivers, share information, and build community with those who understand the unique dynamics of your family in a safe and welcoming online space. This group will be facilitated by a child welfare professional and a veteran adoptive, foster, and kinship parent.

We will have a group focusing on needs and challenges during the holiday season in December.

Starting in January 2026, we will begin a recurring series that will meet monthly. Whether you’re a new kinship caregiver or have been on this journey for a while, everyone is welcome!

Families are eligible for this event and NPAC services if they reside in the Northern region of Virginia and are one of the following:

A family with a finalized adoption (or a signed APA*) of a youth between the ages of 0 to 18 years; families with young adults under 21 may be eligible
KinGAP families
State-funded subsidy families

Group Rules
Confidentiality: Members of this group will keep what is shared in this group confidential. This includes not sharing the identity of the other members present. This group will not be recorded, and recording is prohibited.
Limitations to the confidentiality rule: The leaders of this group must report any situations in which a group member expresses an intent to harm themselves or others or in which someone discloses suspected child/elder abuse or neglect.
Respect: Members of this group will use words and actions to convey mutual respect.

This event is hosted by Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) and the Northern Post Adoption Consortium (NPAC) for families residing in the NPAC service region. The region includes: Frederick/Winchester, Clark County, Loudoun County, Warren County, Shenandoah County, Falls Church/Arlington/Fairfax/Alexandria, Fairfax County, Fauquier County, Manassas/Manassas Park, Prince William County, Page County, Rappahannock County, Culpeper County, Stafford County, King George County, Spotsylvania County, Fredericksburg, Rockingham/Harrisonburg, Greene County, Orange County, and Louisa County.
