The ocean offers an abundance of wildlife and fun, but exploring the ocean tides and depths takes specialized training. As they grow, children need increasing layers of confidence and skill to both ask and answer questions about adoption. It takes practice to navigate these waters and grow more comfortable as their feelings and outside forces come rolling in. Using ocean-themed arts and crafts, and games, children will reflect on their experiences around being part of an adoptive family. Children are grouped by grade to form a team of approximately 10 children. Each team is facilitated by a C.A.S.E. therapist and another adult, who may also be an adult adopted person. The teams will follow a track that includes entertainment, two workshops, and lunch. At the conclusion of the day’s activities, the children will rejoin their parents to attend the carnival.
