In foster care and adoption, one of the deeply sad and harsh realities is that biological siblings are often unable to live and grow up together. This can happen for a multitude of reasons including: 1) the difficulty in finding foster or adoptive placements for sibling groups; 2) the challenge of some children remaining with birth family or in foster care while their siblings are adopted; 3) special needs of individual children; 4) disrupted or dissolved adoptive placements, and more. In this webinar, C.A.S.E. Adoption-competent Therapist, Liz Emen will explore:
• the importance of sibling relationships
• children’s experience of sibling relationships considering separation
• what parents and professionals can do to create, sustain and promote healthy sibling relationships within the challenge of separation
