Burtonsville, MD u2013The Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) will celebrate National Adoption Day this year by hosting its 20th annual Kids’ Adoption Network (KAN) Conference for a sold out audience from 9am u2013 4:30pm at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center at 7100 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, Maryland. More than 150 parents and 120 children from across the Washington, DC area and beyond have registered for the event.KANlogo2016

C.A.S.E.’s KAN conference theme, ‘Ocean Exploration: Riding the Waves of Adoption,’ focuses on the essential skills and tools needed for riding the waves of thoughts and feelings that are part of the lifelong adoption journey. Adopted youth in grades 1st-12th grades and their parents will celebrate 20 years of KAN by creating a conference-wide art project. Inspired by the Washed Ashore installation of sculptures made from plastic garbage recovered from the ocean and currently on exhibit at the National Zoo, a guest artist will assist the children in using recycled materials from past KAN conferences to create an ocean-themed project.

More than 100 families will attend this year’s annual event, many of whom are repeat attendees from years past.

‘My kids were so very happy to be in one location with so many other kids that understood their journey,’ said an adoptive parent from C.A.S.E.’s 2015 KAN conference. ‘We wouldn’t miss this for the world.’

C.A.S.E. thanks the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption™ for their generous support of this signature event and is honored that the Foundation’s President and CEO, Rita Soronen will be on hand to welcome all KAN conference attendees. Learn more at www.davethomasfoundation.org.
